I. The American Paderewski Piano Competition will take place in Los Angeles, California from May 26 to May 29, 2010. The Competition is open to pianists of all nationalities, born after November 1th, 1978 and before November 1th, 1994. No more than 24 pianists will be admitted to the competition. No more than 9 pianists will be admitted to the final second stage.
II. The competition will consist of two stages.
First Stage Repertoire: 25-30 minutes. Mandatory one or more pieces by I. J. Paderewski, chosen from the following: Cracovienne Fantastique Op.14 No.6 Intermezzo Pollaca Op.14 No. 5 Krakowiak Op.9 No.1
and a free choice of repertoire up to the time limit.
Second Stage Repertoire: 50-55 minutes. Free choice of repertoire. The program from the first stage must not be repeated.

Other Prizes First Prize winner will be presented by the Paderewski Society in concerts in California and in Poland in the 2010-2011 season.
The Leschetizky Music Society (Warsaw, Poland, http://www.leszetycki.org/) will award a Special Prize of 1,000 USD for the best performance of any piano piece composed by Theodor Leschetizky in the First or Second Stage.
The Chopin - Nohant Society (Nohant, France, http://www.chopinsociety.com/) will award a Special Prize of 1,000 USD for the best performance of the piano pieces composed by Frederic Chopin. Additionally, the Chopin - Nohant Society will present the recipient of the Prize in a recilal in Paris with all expences covered (air travel and accomodation).
The Paderewski Music Society in Bydgoszcz (Poland, http://www.konkurspaderewskiego.pl/index.php?lang=en&p=master&master=184) will award a Special Prize for one of the finalists in a form of a week long participation in the Paderewski Piano Academy - Masterclasses with the Orchestra (equivalent of 1,000 Euro; approximately 1,500 USD).
In addition, some of the finalists (not necessarily the 1st and 2nd place winners) may be invited to participate in the VIII International Paderewski Piano Competition in Bydgoszcz, Poland in November 2010, in lieu of the preliminary round of the Paderewski International Piano Competition.
The air travel expenses to Poland for two of the invited pianists will be paid by the Paderewski Music Society of Bydgoszcz, Poland and the Paderewski Music Society of Los Angeles.

V. The jury will consist of eminent Polish and American pianists.
VI. The Jury has the option to refrain from awarding all prizes or dividing the prizes between performers. The first prize will be awarded to only one contestant. The decision of the Jury is final. Taxes will be deducted from the prizes according to U.S. tax laws in effect at the time of the Piano Competition.
Foreign contestants must obtain their own passports and visas. Applicants should contact the nearest American Embassy or Consulate for advice.
Participants under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a responsible adult, or should make suitable arrangements with the APPC prior to departure from their home country.
Competitors must not have any other professional commitments during the APPC. No contestant may have any member of the jury or the Artistic Director as a principal teacher during the year preceding the APPC (May, 2009 through May, 2010). Once the 24 participants are announced in March 2010, the competitors cannot participate in master classes or take private lessons with the jury members. No relative of any juror or the Artistic Director may participate in the APPC.
It is the responsibility of the contestants to provide the Competition with a valid Social Security Number (SSN) or International Tax Identification Number (ITIN) to receive any prize money.
